Roadmap for Healthcare AI

Changelog

3 October 2026 — visitor counts

  • Page views are now counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify visitors. The Privacy page says so.
  • Each quiz finished by a signed-in learner is recorded, so the editor can see how many quizzes are taken (totals only).

v1.0 — public launch, 3 October 2026

  • The site is public at roadmap.karthikmd.com and open to search engines and AI assistants.
  • "Report a problem" on every resource and topic explanation, plus a report / suggest form linked from the footer. Every explanation carries "Feedback welcome — report any error".
  • AI-enabled medical devices: FDA's own list (1,614 devices at launch), filterable by review panel, year and submission type, using FDA's terms: 510(k) cleared, De Novo granted, PMA approved. Each device links to its FDA record. The list refreshes every Monday; newly listed devices are marked and announced in What's New.
  • What's New: dated entries with source, what changed, why it matters and which tracks it affects.
  • Learners: "What do you want to become?" (8 paths), a three-question path finder, "My roadmap" with progress and next topic, "Mark done" on topics, "Save" on resources, a Careers page and a Privacy page. Works without signing in; Google sign-in saves it across devices.
  • "Test your knowledge": a quiz for each of the eight tracks (120 questions: concept questions and "Is this AI output safe?" scenarios), one question at a time with an explanation and a link to its source; scores saved to progress. Questions are published only after passing automated checks.
  • Design: a pastel colour for each track on a soft off-white page, gentle motion (off when reduced motion is requested), abstract line-art behind track headers.
  • Security review before launch (see SECURITY.md), and a full check of every page, link and form on phone, tablet and desktop.
  • Specialty roadmaps (starting with anaesthesia and critical care) are being built and will follow; the anaesthesia papers are already in search.

v1.0 — release candidate (27–28 September 2026)

  • The roadmap: 8 tracks from orientation to research, product and leadership, each with its topics in order and five depth levels (Understand, Use, Evaluate, Build, Lead).
  • Plain-language topic explanations for every topic.
  • About 240 learning resources, each with its link and relevance checked and the date recorded.
  • Free-resources addendum: videos, official documents, open textbooks, datasets and NPTEL courses, with a "Start here, free" path for each track.
  • Landmark papers: journal papers matched to their DOI, with open-access status and a "Read these five first" list per track.
  • Editorial picks, 7-, 30- and 90-day suggested paths, a 15-question paper-reading checklist, and search.
  • Duplicates merged into single cards; "Link not machine-checked" tag for sites that block automated visits.
  • Weekly link check, with broken links flagged for review.
